FCE 1 students have already started with their first unit. The unit deals with teenagers' relationships. It might be a stereotype, but we often hear about the conflicts teenagers face because of their relationships with their parents, teachers, siblings or their peers. The first reading text in the book gives information about a special service a charity organization has launched:
Helping Hand. This is a phone and chatting service teenagers can turn to to talk about their everyday problems. Laskenglish, however, wonders whether our teenagers would use that service if they could. So here's the question we would like you to answer:

Helping Hand I think is a good way to help people. In my case, before resorting to this association I prefer to ask for help from friends or family, since they are the ones that best know me.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion I think this service is useful and fundamental. There are increasing problems among young people there, such as bullying, insults, jealousy, envy ... So if you have these problems and have no one for tell your problems go to the Helping Hand, this is the reason why I give to my opinion.
From my point of view, this organization has a very important role in our society. Without it, a lot of teenagers wouldn´t have the opportunity to solve their problems and find their way.

I would never use this tipe of aids because I doesn't think that I'm in good hands. I think that probably it can be useful for another people but I never go tu use it.

I wouldn't use a service like Helping Hand because I prefer to tell my anxieties and frustrations to my friends/family. Other people could find it more useful because they're too shy to speak with their friend about their problems. Perhaps, they think that their frinds will tease them if they tell them their problems. But that's not my case.
ReplyDeleteI would never use that kind of service because of several reasons. First of all, I think that all conflicts have to be solved between the family or friends. From my point of view, it is not a good idea to communicate your problems to strangers, I think it is enough to talk about those things with any friend or member of your family. They are the people who really want to help you, those who love you and want you to be happy. I understand that every human needs to work off, but there will always be someone you know that won't let you down. Because of all those things I have just mentioned, I wouldn't use a service like "Helping Hand".

If I had any problem, first I would find someone who could help me, like my brother, my parents or any friends. But if I were alone, with anyone to talk about my problems, I would call to "Helping hand". I think this service is very useful for the people that is feeling lonely, or simply hasn't got anyone to talk about their problems. I thinks that would be a big help for them.

This idea I find it useful, because nowadays there are a lot of teenagers that have problems (with the friends, with the family, with the partner…) and sometimes is better to talk with someone that you don't know to help you giving a solution of this problem.
ReplyDeleteNo. I will never use a service like Helping Hand, because I don`t have problems to tell to people that are working in this organisation. Even if I had a problem such us bulling... I will tell it to my parents or to the teacher.
ReplyDeleteI find this organisation very useful for people that are having bad conditions because of classmates, or parents... People can tell the problems to the organisation and they will recive a solution for it, and anyone would know who it is because all of it is anonimous.
I´m not going to use this service because I don´t have this kind of problems. I think that is useful because some people need this service to speak about their problems and to stay in a frindly ear.
ReplyDeleteI think Helping Hand could be a good idea to work off about the problems that you could have with your friends, parents, etc,and I think it could be usefull for that; whereas, I would not use a service like this because of several reasons. On the one hand because I think it's better to solve problems between family or friends and not with an unknown person. And in the other hand because I think this service only can help us to work off and not to solve problems.

ReplyDeleteIf it's someone near you, it's important to talk with him or her instead of an unknown person because they are the people who really take care of you, in other words, that love you.
I had never use a service like helping hand and I will not use never because if I have some problem I speak about it hith my friends and I fell well with that. But I think that all the people is different and that this service will be very useful for some people.

I think that this is an useful service because whenever you've got a problem you feel much better if you can talk to someone about it, bu personally I wouldn't use it because i prefer to talk to my friends when i've got a problem.

However, I think that we must solve our problems, and if we can't solved it always we have friends for help. In my opinion the helping hand must be used in a extremity case.

On the other hand, is comfortable to have this type of service in the school.
Therefore, is a great idea because we have a choice to solve our problems in a practical way.
I think that this service is very useful for people with serious problems. Howerver I would never use it because I don´t like these things, I thing that they are not serious. Whereas I understand that many people can have serious problems and like they have not friends to speak with them they use this method. But in my case I prefer to talk with a friend.
ReplyDeleteNo.I think that is better solve this problems with someone I know and no chating with one person that I never see. However it can be a good service for other people, but from my point of view is better to talk with my friends, parents or teachers.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't use this kind of helping. Before use that I will ask for help from anyone around me. It can be useful but for some extremely cases, when you need help from a psychologist.

Althoug, can be interesting to talk with a strange person about yourself, because she or he is going to give you a impartial opinion. It is not going to happen with for example your friends.

Because nowadays teenagers has got a lot of problems in the society so is a very good idea create a project like Helping Hands to give an aid to this teenagers. ReplyDeleteI think that helping hand is a good idea for those teenagers that have issues in school, at home, with alcohol, smoking.. It´s a good oportunity if you feel bad frequently and if you can't live happy.

But I think there a lot of doctors and psychologists to help people when his problems are very big. I think if I ever have a big problem, I would go to a specialist.
