One day, the king called the counsellor to him. ‘Wisest counsellor’ he began. ‘There is something I must tell you. It is not true that I have no children. Many years ago, we had a beautiful daughter. But when she was a baby, she was cruelly stolen from us, and we have never seen her again. Soon I will die, and she must be queen. You must find her for me. Find her now!’
The king gave him a fast and black horse and he also contracted a brave and strong warrior for the security of his counsellor. The warrior and the king’s counsellor left the castle on a bright and sunny morning. They walked for a long time and they stopped near a lake when it started to get dark. They went to sleep after they ate the king’s delicious (because he was an excellent cook) meatballs.
They woke up early next morning, to go on, on their mission. They arrived at a beautiful and little town. It looked very nice. They went to relax to the only inn in the town. They reserved a room for a week. Next day they received a post of the king. When the counsellor read the post he got furious. The king was pulling their leg! The king never had a daughter!
So, they came back to castle. When they arrived at the castle the king received them laughing. The counsellor was angry and he went to kill the king with a little knife, but the warrior hit him on the head and the counsellor fainted. They imprisoned the counsellor for the rest of his life and they named the warrior counsellor of the king.
The king died three months later and the new counsellor became king. He formed a strong empire by conquering many lands. This king died at the age of 102.
Well done, Jon. I think your story is very original and well written. I specially liked the idea of the king pulling their leg. It reminded me of nowadays TV programmes with hidden video cameras where they play jokes on people.
